Roanoke Vision Film FestivalOfficial Site: http://www.blueridgeswvafilm.org/ Ahh...The Hotel Roanoke in Wachovia City. Flyers and a map! That's advertising genius at work! Opening reception. Vincent Sweeny and Eric Thornett strike up a conversation. Director John Birmingham. (He directed CRAZY ANIMAL - A movie that will make you a vegetarian for about an hour or so.) Charlottesville's own John Johnson! He's planning his next film in this shot. Thornett and his fabulous meal. (It's free!) Part of the directors panel. That's Kevin Hershberger on the right! John Johnson rules the show. David Stewart with Suzanne and her sis. The Confinement crew! (The ones who came to the fest anyway!) This pic entirely sums up the Roanoke Film Festival: Very nice festival with a bit too much going on at once and not enough maps. A perfect example of this is the fact that the night CONFINEMENT played there were two other features that I wanted to see at the same time. I'd recommend not overlapping the features or at least having alternate viewings. The best part of the fest for me was meeting the other local(ish) filmmakers. Many cards were swapped and movies exchanged. I am now a Charles Cullen Fan and hope to work with him in some way down the road. Be sure to check up on the Appalachian Film festival.
